Equestrian Club Crisis... again...

Well folks, today's title seems to sum up my day well... We have spent most of this year surviving the Equestrian Club competition days by sending various members of the A team to the B team comp as and when necessary and vise versa. Tomorrow we have both teams competing on the same day!! Very much less than ideal

Luckily, with the help of an 'All Student' email plea, we have filled all the spaces and both the competitions have the right number of competitors and are good to go to Aberystwyth and Liverpool (Good luck girls!), but this took a lot of time, and instead of going home after my lectures finished at 10am today (tutorial was cancelled, huzzah!), I was still in Uni until nearly 4pm!

Glad to be home now, but not going to Charity Zumba anymore as I feel awful, will donate extra money instead.

All I really want to do tonight now is sleep, eat and go to the pub! Leicestershire Housemate has just offered to cook again, which is lovely, venison burgers, mmm! and then maybe the Engineer boys will come to the pub with me later.

I really do think it is time for a nap, I haven't had a nap (standard student procedure) in ages, I don't think I've had time to breathe, let a lone nap!

Bye folks!

Just another Monday...

Another end to another Monday.
Being back in lectures is not as bad as I thought it would be,  although I still can't seem to concentrate that much on Planning, Law and Practise, but it was the one I chose, so can't really complain.

Afternoon was spent ironing, more than anything. Followed by a lovely turkey casserole cooked by Leicestershire housemate, that was very tasty indeed, and if it wasn't so late, I could easily eat more.

After buying Turkey steaks last week, and so far making curry and casserole, it is starting to feel like the week after Christmas all over again... tasty though :) Although after watching Countryfile last night, I should probably take a bit more care cooking poultry. Cook it properly people, John Craven says so! He's a wise man...

Evening was spent in the library, which was just plain strange to be honest. I'm never usually in there in the evenings, it was a lot livelier than I thought it would be, but me and Business Assignment Partner got most of what we needed to do done. Even if I spent a lot of time waiting around for him to sort things. After tomorrow, just finalising the bibliography, we should be done, printed, handed in etc. Not even deadline day!

I guess I better start getting used to the evening library life, it seems common practise for fourth years. Yorkshire Housemate and Irish Housemate are both fourth years, and they do spend an evening or two in there.

Was planning to have a sneaky Kitkat (also the name of the Boyf's family cat, the two should never be confused) from Costcutter on the way home from there, but it was shut (a rare thing for this particular Costcutter), so I didnt, which is probably a godsend for my poor wasteline. Serious work needs to be done to reverse the recent expanding.

Charity Zumba Tone (I don't even know...) will probably help tomorrow. It's to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, who, basically, in a few words, saved my life, so I have a lot to owe to them. I'm looking forward to it though, and after the Sports Co-ordinator found out I had a heart condition, he's asked me to present the cheque of the money that the Uni's raised during National Heart Month on Thursday, for a photo. That will be nice :)

Anyway, sleep is needed so that I can battle Tuesday.

Ta-ra!

Parents Descending!

Well, yesterday was a truly wonderful Parental descent, to be quite honest. They remembered the things I asked for, which is quite a miracle for Daddy Bason, and even turned up with a Garlic Press! After slicing my finger a few weeks ago with the knives I got for Christmas, Mummy Bason decided a press was necessary on safety grounds.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Battlefield 1403 farm shop, which is on the site of the Shrewsbury Battlefield. Fresh beef from the farm and some rather huge Yorkshire puddings, we also spent a considerable amount of time (and money...) in the farm shop, but we got lovely things for tea that evening, the Grandma's mothers day gifts and a heap of other goodies!

After spending a while there, we spent the remainder of the day pottering around Shrewsbury. Unfortunately not too many of the shops were open, but Smiths was, so I popped in there to see my friend. Shrewsbury is such a pretty little town, with some wonderful independent shops, which I'm going to have more of a look round when I go again on Wednesday.

Due to going to a gig there in the evening, I've decided that a visit to the shops when they're open, and a potter round the castle will be a nice way to spend Wednesday afternoon. Even nicer knowing that the castle and museum are free entry for students!

Anyway, it's back to the lectures grind stone today, so I must actually get ready!

Over and out.

My first day blogging...

Not going to bombard with multiple posts each day, I promise, but decided to make another one today about what I've actually done!

Not a great deal is the answer, but enough all the same.

Had a lovely little walk in to town today (love the fact that it's so close) to go to the haberdashery. I now have new knitting needles and some cotton that looks like wool to make a new scarf. I was indecisive about colour, so went for beige. I wear a lot of neutral shades, so it will go with a lot.
Already got over 2 inches knitted in a day, which is good for me!

Spent the afternoon watching the Six Nations, these matches are a compulsory part of my routine! Wasn't overly pleased with the England result, as you can imagine. I'd washed my England top and painted my nails red and white specially! Wales did play well though, they've got an excellent team.

After burning Turkey curry to the bottom of the pan in a quick bid to make some dinner, I went out for the evening. I went to see 'Life and Times: Where the working boats went' which I have to say was marvellous! It's a production all about the life and times of canal men, told by two men, mostly through singing [some truly wonderful songs] and a bit of acting.

I found out about the show through someone who I've known on Twitter for ages, but never met before, even though she lives about 20 mins away from me at Uni, it was lovely to finally meet her and she's big on the folk scene gigs in Shropshire, so she's inviting me to all sorts of other ventures, one of which is on Wednesday, which I'm very much looking forward to.

These people in the show tonight are looking for other places to play, and I think the home town would be great, as the town has a big canal heritage, going to talk to the vicar at my local church who's a good friend of mine, to see about putting it on there. Any Burtonians, watch this space!

Anyway, that was my lovely Saturday, which has been nice and chilled and the first non-stressful day since before Christmas! The Elder Basons (aka Parents) are coming tomorrow, so there will be tales to tell from tomorrow's ventures. Looking forward to seeing them since I haven't since January. Been tidying specially and got most of my washing done before hand. Hopefully they'll be proud!

Right, need to recharge batteries in time for tomorrow.

Sleep well all :)

New ventures

Hmmm, well, this is a new venture!

But being a keen user of Facebook and Twitter (love of my life!) this may well be something that suits me.

Well, about me. I'm a student, at a small Agiricultural Uni in Shropshire. I study Countryside Management, which is rather lovely. The homeshire is Staffordshire, Burton-on-Trent to be precise. It's...home. I do like it, I just don't love it. I like photography, and the Countryside (naturally) and horses.

Life seems to be really taking off at the moment, which is why I guess that I'm starting this. Placement year will be starting around September time, which means actually having a proper job! But before that I have a job lined up for the Summer working at an International Summer School for children from abroad coming to learn English. I'm going to be an 'Activity Leader' which will be fun!

Also potentially getting involved with Cowes Week this summer, now that is exciting! I've never sailed before, and I'm not that good at swimming, so we'll see how it goes but I wouldn't mind a whole week on the Isle of Wight.

Other adventures include going to more stuff with The Sealed Knot. That, my friends is an English Civil War battle re-enactment society, which is quite frankly bloody awesome! But I may be biased as I was born into it... Anyhoo, after not being a member since the age of 11 due to family reasons, family plus the boyf and I all rejoined for the 2011 season. It really was the best decision I've ever made, was lovely to see so many old friends and meet so many new ones. Boyf was a bit apprehensive when I told him what we were going to do, and was terrified at the first weekend, but now he loves it, which is grand.

2012 membership is paid up and we're ready for the off, which I guess starts with the banquet in just over 2 weeks time :) Lovely.

Anyway, I think that's all for now.

Over and Out.
