Sorry for the lack of blogging. It's been a mad weekend and the few days previous to it. The boyf arrived on Thursday evening, and then it was a mad rush to get dinner cooked (seafood risotto, it was lovely, but I had no peas) before an Equestrian Club meeting.Took him along with me and another one of the Execs bought her boyf too, this resulted in them sitting together in the corner and coming up with a new sport. They decided to create Horse Rugby, sponsored by Pedigree Dog Food and No More Nails glue. We have since decided that they are horrible boys.
Friday was spent not doing a great deal in the morning, just relaxing and stuff, before going to the cinema in the afternoon. Having watched 5 trailers the previous night, The boyf decided that he wanted to watch The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. I was more than happy to go and see it again, it was really good both times! The boyf really enjoyed it too and so it was a good afternoon all round. Cooked dinner again that evening for The boyf and Leicestershire Housemate, which tasted wonderful, but managed to set the fire alarm off multiple times. All fun at the house on Broomfield Road.
This weekend was spent with the regiment. This is a regiment in an organisation called The Sealed Knot, which re-enact the English Civil War. This in the past has been summed up by a friend of mine as 'Dressing up and firing guns in the rain'. It was something I was born into, the Elder Basons have been members since the 80s, but we had to give it up for a few years, due to money, time etc. Last year we went back, dragging The boyf with us, he was very nervous at first but now he loves it! Last night was our annual banquet down near Weston-Super-Mare. Decided to make more of a time of it, so spent the day time at the sea front in Weston with a friend. It was lovely and the weather wasn't too shabby. We then spent hours making ourselves look beautiful in time for the evening's party.
I had a lovely new russett red skirt to wear for the occasion, and was looking forward to it, although driving to the venue in kit was an interesting experience. Everything was wonderful, the food was divine and drink was flowing. Various awards and medals were given out to members of the regiment and all were thoroughly deserved. As I said, the drink was flowing, which for some of us (namely, me, and the friend we'd spent the day with) had too much, far too much. Including drinking whiskey straight from the bottle in the car park. I don't remember much (luckily) but I did end the night toilet hugging and got put to bed. My head this morning felt like I'd been hit with a sledge hammer. It was a wonderful night though and I'm very very glad we made the effort to trek down for it.
It has certainly made me really excited about the rest of the up-coming season, which will be kicking off with an event at Basing House in Hampshire during the Easter weekend. I'm just hoping that I can find the money from somewhere to afford to go. Hopefully we'll be able to, it should be a rather good weekend.
Looking forward to another recovery day tomorrow, where I can get my life sorted out!
Take care!
